North American Junior Challenge

November 20 - 22, 2015
College Park, Maryland, USA

The USIC graciously hosted teams from Mexico, Bahamas, and Bermuda to contest the International Club 16 & Under North American World Junior Challenge November 20-22 at College Park, MD. The weekend included a tour of Washington, DC landmarks and a philanthropic event in addition to compelling tennis.

However, the USA team of players from the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) were not so gracious dominating the competition winning every match. Collectively, Brian Cernoch, Kyrylo Tsygura, and Justice Jones from the boys, and Elizabeth Scotty, Lexi Merrill, and Rachel Cross from the girls USA team, captured 18 points without dropping a single set in singles and doubles.

"Representing their country for the first time was an inspirational experience for these players," commented USIC Secretary Don Tansey. "The USIC was proud to present this opportunity for four quality teams of young men and women."

"This was an outstanding performance by our JTCC team representing the USIC," said Senior Director of Tennis Vesa Ponkka. "Most importantly, sportsmanship and camaraderie were at the highest standard for all the teams."

For winning the North American Junior Challenge, the United States team from the Junior Tennis Champions Center will fly to Monaco next year to compete in the 2016 International Club Worldwide Finals at the beautiful Monte Carlo Country Club from September 4-9.
