The Amigo's Cup between the USIC and the Mexico IC was contested "at home" at the Old Westbury Country Club on Long Island, resulting in the USIC retaining the Cup by a score of 19 - 11. Mexico and the USIC fielded strong teams with USIC players hailing from across the nation (New York, California, North Carolina, Florida, Hawaii, and Washington). The USIC team was lead by Rick Fried taking on all comers in singles, in age groups one or two below his own. Bobby Rodriguez was renamed the "Great Wall of Bobby" when no one could get a ball past him at net. USIC women including Margaret Lumia, Judi Fess, Lea Annouye, and Hana Guy presented an incredibly strong performance going undefeated for the event. Two dinners showcased our camaraderie with the Mexican team followed by an evening out to see the best players in the world at the US Open. The Mexican IC president, Roberto Pullido, was a huge help organizing the event and is already planning for next year to play the 2025 Amigo's Cup at Cabo or perhaps the Rafael Nadal academy in Cancun.
