Recap & Summary
Captain:Louise Gengler

Team USA arrived Friday afternoon to picture perfect weather in Toronto. Our team of 7 came in from Buffalo, Boston, Cleveland, New York, Baltimore and Washington DC. Enjoying a lunch in Toronto we then gathering at the beautiful Donalda Club for a practice on their clay courts. The team greeted old friends and teammates and welcomed some new faces. As always Canadian captain Pam Olley was on hand to set us up with courts and to house some of our players. With a few good sets under our belts we returned to the hotel before getting together at Kelsey's for our pre match team dinner and good cheers.

The weekend began with thunder and lighting and indoor play at the Queens Club, but by mid afternoon Saturday we were outside at Donalda and finished our competition there through a clear and sunny Sunday. The tennis was strong; the competition was fierce but friendly; and the Canadians fielded a team determined to avenge their home loss of two years ago. With valiant fight, team USA could not pull out the wins. Losing three of four tie breaker on Sunday, it was Canada who sailed though to win the Gengler Cup for 2011. Despite the loss, we loved the serious but friendly competition with our IC Canada friends and rivals, and the opportunity to represent the USA. The team play and team support in IC competition is unique. Our shared ideals of sportsmanship, strong play and friendships grown and maintained make this IC event a wonderful weekend for all.

Many thanks and congratulations to our gracious hosts of IC of Canada.
