The annual Baker Bowl continued its great tradition with the Canadians hosting us at the beautiful Donalda Club outside Toronto. The Canadians were gracious hosts and did everything they could to make the U.S. team feel welcome.
We brought a strong team which overtook the Canadians by the score of 8-0. Despite the score, the level of play was high and competition fierce. In two matches, we “borrowed” a Canadian player to even out the teams. As usual, the sportsmanship and camaraderie exhibited by both teams was exceptional. Many of the U.S. players rekindled friendships with the Canadians which go back as long as 15 years.
Canada IC provided a healthy, tasty lunch each day and the Saturday night dinner was memorable and included great food, a private room, and the usual speeches and introductions by the captains. We look forward to welcoming IC Canada next summer at the Piping Rock Club in New York.
